The craze for de-cluttering, simplifying and overall Kondoizing one’s life is not slowing down. But Kondoizing doesn’t reset reality. It merely provides a smoother arc for consumerist culture. After eliminating everything from your home that fails to “spark joy” you will indeed have more space. You will also have more room in your heart for joy, joy that we intrinsically link to things. The logical outcome is to buy more things to bring more joy. Things we now have space for. And so it goes, until all the space is filled, and it’s time to Kondo the joint once again. Repeat.
